‘Light Perpetual’: Echoes of War
Fauré’s haunting Requiem with poems from war zones past and present
Click here for flyer: Light Perpetual
The poems, in their variety and power, form an emotional bridge between each movement of Fauré’s glorious music. Well-known, great poems by Sassoon, Owen, Housman mingle with less familiar, equally arresting works by soldiers such as TE Hulme, Dennis McHarrie, and the irrepressible e.e.cummings. The counterpoint of harsh reality and soaring music offers a deeply moving and memorable experience.
In partnership with conductor Simon Lindley and the St Peter’s Singers; and in association with Headingley LitFest.
