An evening of jazz with YUKAKO YAMANO accompanied by Dolly James and band
Yukako Yamano is one of the most prolific International Jazz pianist’s renown for her ability to embrace classical and jazz, traditional or contemporary within her style and delivery. Born in Tokyo, her interest in the piano started at an early age which gradually developed since she attended the Tokyo College of Music. Her musical journey to attaining international status was eminent as she is greatly in demand in the Tokyo live music scene and her performances have taken her further afield to the United States, Europe, Hong Kong and Taiwan. She has recorded several albums since 2016 which are available on her website.
Yukako’s delivery in her performance is without doubt one of the best in her field and she is certainly one to watch, a rising star in the making.
Dolly James has had an extensive career as a professional vocalist touring, radio and television performances and recording both as lead and backing vocalist. When signed to Sony Music and A&M publishing in 2006, she released her debut album, ‘The Journey’. She has worked with Simply Red, Van Morrison, Mike Oldfield and James Taylor Quartet. Since moving to Leeds, her love for jazz and the
opportunity of working with ‘Leeds Finest’ musicians and singers, led to her meeting Yukako at her performance last year. Since then they have kept in touch through social media which brought about the idea of working together.
This evening’s performance will give you the best of their musical talents accompanied by the selected few from Leeds Jazz Finest
