TUESDAY NIGHT LIVE: Jon Budworth is a singer/songwriter originally from Lancashire but now very much an honorary Yorkshireman living in the bustling market town of Otley. Jon is a relative latecomer to the wonderful world of folk and acoustic music having spent many years cast adrift in the dark and seedy underbelly of rock. Jon changed musical direction in 2010 after happening upon a youtube video of Richard Thompson playing his beautiful and evocative Beeswing. There has been no looking back ever since.

Jon has now built up a sizeable repertoire which includes original and traditional songs, instrumentals and covers of music by the likes of John Renbourn, Nic Jones and Richard Thompson. Jon also plays lead guitar in popular local folk rock group, The Jon Palmer Acoustic Band. Between that and playing solo acoustic gigs he has very busy 2020 ahead!

Apart from being a fine musician, Jon has been a teacher and now is a pilot based at Doncaster airport – an interesting change of job!

He released his first full length solo album, We All Share The Same Sky, In 2018. It features nine self-penned tracks and one traditional. It has received significant airplay and many excellent reviews.

Joining Jon will be Mags Elliot on backing vocals. Also from Otley Mags is a highly respected musician and singer.

Jon is a fine fingerpicking guitarist and this is a record that promises much for the future.-Folking.com.

An album that if justice holds good will establish Budworth as an artist deserving of wider recognition.-Folkwords.

All in all ‘We All Share The Same Sky’ is an album worth investigating.-FATEA

In addition we now have another wonderful local musician – Nick Wood who will be joining Jon and Mags for this evening of splendid music.  Nick likes  “a song with a good tune and a catchy chorus,  soaring melodies, wry humour and heart-stopping pathos.”  Sounds good.

Music in the Assembly Bar + Kitchen from 8pm – 10.15pm approx. ABK closes at 10.30pm

Suggested donations of £3-£5, but no one turned away for lack of funds.
