SOUNDBITES – Monthly Poetry Open Mic Event

We supply the mic – you supply the poetry

Put your name down for a 4 minute slot (first come, first served) or just come along and be entertained.

Readings by a local published poet each month. This month we are delighted to welcome Donald Jenkins from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Not exactly local – so here is some info in case you’re not aware of his work:

Donald’s high octane poetry draws upon his life as an activist, teacher and Northerner as well as his incessant love of rave music.  He won the Great Gateshead Slam 2018, was a semi-finalist in the Great Northern Slam 2017 and has performed at Glastonbury Festival and the Royal Albert Hall.  He is the organiser and host of ‘Born Lippy’, Newcastle’s leading live lit night- showcasing the finest national and local poets, comedians and rappers in ‘a monthly celebration of all things wordy’. He took Born Lippy to Lindisfarne Festival 2018/19 and is about to be part of the Words Weekender Festivals with Apples & Snakes at Sage Gateshead and The Lowry, Salford.
