ASSEMBLY BAR + KITCHEN!
Debut Exhibition by On Edge, a Yorkshire based artist collective. Members of the group are based in Leeds, Wakefield and Ilkley and come to together to draw in the Ilkley Arts studio at Manor House, Ilkley.
Andi Noble, one of the group, explains: “We all met at Swarthmore Education Centre, Leeds, and formed into a loose collective of artists who share a common interest in life drawing and who are working towards a better understanding of drawing. This exhibition explores our response to the imposition of boundaries, whether literal or figurative, mental or geophysical. The edge (or border) of the paper can be a metaphor for the physical limits of the body as well as the political boundaries which restrict movement across borders. We wanted to look at how, as artists, we can depict those restrictions.”
Another of the artists, Beth Smith said: “It’s so helpful to be able to draw together, getting inspiration from one another as well as critical support for your work.”
The exhibition consists of A1 and A2 monochrome drawings mounted on board (unframed) and prices will be available on request.
Exhibition opening on 17 May 2019 from 5pm to 7pm at HEART. Free entry. The opening will be the first chance to view the exhibition in the cafe area, meet and talk to the artists while enjoying a glass of wine or a cup of tea and slice of cake.
