PETER CAHIL

RIDGE ROOM

I’ve lived in Leeds for most of my adult life and I’ve been taking photographs rather longer than that, having been first inspired by my father and his Robot Royal viewfinder camera with its seemingly-magical clockwork motor wind, and his stories of taking street portraits while overseas with the RAF.  I’ve retained that fondness for candid portraits, while developing a liking for more abstract shots and in recent years, pictures of place.  I hesitate to call them landscapes because I think of them more as “lightscapes” but they retain in my mind a sense of their location, even when they aren’t obviously identifiable – it is these photographs you see here. You might see the candids and abstracts another time.
