PAUL ASHTON – ASSEMBLY BAR + KITCHEN!
The exhibition represents the showing of new works from me that have been made since my return from Vietnam, where I reconsidered the draughtsmanship in my work as well as the subject and choice of technique and materials. Subjectively I thought of the romantic and often westernised view on beauty.
The title of the exhibition is taken from the book In Praise of Folly by Erasmus and it refers to Folly’s daughters, that are Madness, Self loving, Revelry and Sensuality and a few others. Erasmus’s book was recommended to me by a Dutchman in the old quarter of Hanoi.
