Never Such Innocence
A Narrative Recital of Words & Music from the First World War
Never Such Innocence is the acclaimed narrative recital of words and music from the First World War by actor Christopher Kent and concert pianist Gamal Khamis, first seen in London in 2016 and since on tour extensively round the UK, including sell-out performances in London’s West End. Described as “an incredibly moving performance” by Katie Derham on BBC Radio 3, Never Such Innocence traces a narrative from pre-war innocence to sadness and loss through the writing and piano music of the time, while also telling the story of nineteen-year conscript Percy O’Key from Hull through his real-life letters and diaries.
