Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
(Howard Hawks, 1953, 89 mins, cert. U)
An American musical comedy film that was based on the blockbuster comic novel of the same name, written by Anita Loos.
Two showgirls, played by Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe, travel to Paris on an ocean liner to look for wealthy husbands. The highlight of the film has to be the immaculately staged song “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” – four perfect minutes of film.
This is a ‘Memory Matinee’ screening, supported by OWLS and Rose’s Tea Bar. It is free to attend and designed to be inclusive to those living with dementia as well as family members and carers.
