An evening of good company, vinyl and live music in the heart of the community. Italian street food and vinyl selection by Salvo’s.
From the laconic bluesy jazz of Mose Allison, the soul clap groove of Ramsey Lewis or the Hammond jazz of Jimmy Smith and Bro’ Jack McDuff, jazz has always figured strongly in the 60’s Mod musical cannon.
Live music comes from The Joe Tatton Trio. Since 2007 Joe Tatton has been the Organist of The New Mastersounds and has played on 7 studio albums with the quartet as well as performing with the likes of Maceo Parker and George Porter jr & Zigaboo Modeliste from The Meters. As well as performing and recording with The New Mastersounds he has also recorded 2 albums with The Haggis Horns, 1 with his own band Rodina and has supplied organ on the number one single Put you records on by Corinne Bailey Rae.
The Joe Tatton Trio comprises of Joe himself on piano with Sam Hobbs on drums and Neil Innes on double bass. Additional performances on the tunes come from The Sorcerer’s Pete Williams and Submotion Orchestra’s Danny Templeman on Percussion on Bang Bang Boogaloo and The Yorkshire Film & Television Orchestra’s Steve Parry providing brass on Sunday Shade.
“Superb. Joe has it nailed on this one. Every bit as good as I would expect from the huge talent that is Joe Tatton.” – Craig Charles BBC6 Music
Gip on the wheels of steel playing 45’s reminiscent of soulful shake n finger poppin’ goodness.
An evening of cookin’ soul jazz and good company.
