Minari is a 2020 American drama film written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung.

Winner of a BAFTA as Best Film Not in the English Language and Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in 2021, it stars Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Youn You-jung, and Will Patton. A semi-autobiographical take on Chung’s upbringing, the plot follows a family of South Korean immigrants who try to make it in the rural United States during the 1980s.

A tender and sweeping story about what roots us, Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, Minari shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.
