Don’t Feed the Peacocks are a “Wonderful new folk collective” – Rowan Rheingans (Lady Maisery, The Rheingans Sisters) “Horribly young, infectiously enthusiastic and wonderfully skilled bunch of musicians. We’ll be seeing lot’s more of them I’m sure” – Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith Graduates of the ‘National Youth Folk Ensemble’; this hugely skilled and energetic (but still distressingly young) six piece collective are quickly carving out a notable reputation on the live circuit performing at venues and festivals such as Cecil Sharpe House, Musicport Festival 2017, Saltaire Festival, Preston Minster, The Live Room and supporting bands ranging from ‘Laura Cortese and The Dance Cards’ to ‘Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith’. Inspired by reggae and jazz as well as folk, their own contemporary tunes sit comfortably alongside tunes from the British tradition.
‘Don’t Feed The Peacocks’ are: James Haigh on guitar, Martin Parker on accordion and alto saxophone, Owen Spafford on trumpet and fiddle, Alex Lord on fiddle, Cori Smith on viola and Phoebe Harty on cello and alto saxophone.
Support comes from Rachel Darling.
As this is the last Tuesday Night Live gig before Christmas, it will take place in the Shire Oak hall for one night only! Suggested donations £3-£5, but no one turned away for lack of funds. We will also have a late license, meaning the bar will be open later than usual, with last orders at 11.15pm!
