Deputy Manager (hours to be discussed)

£21,000 p.a. (FTE)

This is a wonderful opportunity for you to be part of the exciting community in Headingley. We are seeking a Deputy Manager to join our team to build on our success to date and ensure that HEART continues to be well managed, whilst remaining a thriving community resource open to all.
HEART has a licensed café – Assembly Bar + Kitchen – a workspace and 10 rooms to hire. It also runs a varied Events Programme and provides arts exhibition space. Its aim is to be the hub of activity for the wider community of Headingley. We will soon be opening 7 days a week and one of the primary functions of this role is to be the person running our Sundays, developing and building that new part of our business.

We are seeking someone with drive, enthusiasm and commitment who can combine the demands of a busy community building with ensuring the necessary paperwork and procedures are kept up with. We need a team player who will thrive on the variety and hustle and bustle of a public building and maintain a professional and welcoming approach.

You will be responsible for Sunday opening and the overall management of HEART in the Centre Manager’s absence. You will manage a small staff team supplemented by over 40 volunteers providing reception cover and general duties. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to develop a proactive and professional approach to lead the smooth day to day running of HEART.

We are looking for someone with knowledge of facilities and human resources but, more importantly, someone with an eye for detail, high standards and an ability to motivate through their own actions. You will have previous experience in people management as well as customer service and be an excellent communicator.

This is a hands-on role and the right candidate needs to be flexible – both with their hours and duties – enthusiastic and understanding of our community.

CLOSING DATE for applications is Noon on Tuesday 12th February 2019.

Interviews will be held the week commencing 18th February. Shortlisted candidates will be notified on or after 13th February 2019.
