HEATHER COULTON

“An amazing session from Heather Coulton, absolutely brilliant… one of the best ever” – BBC Intro

Heather Coulton is a singer and songwriter hailing from Preston, UK. Now based in Leeds, she has quietly honed her song writing skills. Her songs are intimately personal, drawing inspiration from her own experiences: finding, and then losing happiness; the struggle to reconcile sexuality with a religious upbringing; and reclaiming independence following personal loss.

With a voice that has been compared to Joni Mitchell and Carole King, she is joined by a musical cohort of close friends, who provide the sensitive arrangements for her voice and music.

Following the release of her first album, All the Years, she is set to release her newest single and first ever music video for Playdough (as heard live in session on BBC Introducing here)

SABRINA PIGGOTT

Sabrina’s songs are full of a sense of open spaces and possibilities. She has taken her rich traditional music background from her ancestral home in the countryside of Cork, Southern Ireland (Sabrina is the niece of De Dannan Charlie Piggott) and fused it with modern industrial city sounds of her adopted Leeds and Yorkshire.

Her distinctive rippling, almost Philip Glass evoking, acoustic guitar style sets the tone for a heart melting voice with a Celtic timbre that pulls the emotion out of the lyric.

Vicky Blake will also be there to talk briefly about homelessness and how we can all help.

Donations on the door – suggested £3 – £5 (no one turned away for lack of funds)
